It is so bad in the Bujinkan that the Japanese themselves have both noticed and are making fun of the fact that only white westerners fall for the crap that the Bujinkan has to offer.
I released a video here awhile ago showcasing a Japanese show that took the time to visit Bujinkan dojo's in order to ask them questions and investigate what they consider a strange western phenomenon. All with a laugh track in the background, of course.

But it doesn't stop there. If you do a little digging across Japanese websites, you'll find many questioning and making fun of the fact that there are very few Japanese people involved in the Bujinkan, what's supposed to be a Japanese martial art. They wonder why someone would use this shitty fighting system if they already do throws and strikes in other more effective arts.
Good question.
Here's one such website: http://blog.livedoor.jp/zzcj/archives/51879038.html
That's because there is no ninjutsu in the Bujinkan. Hatsumi years ago told the world that he would not teach the unconventional strategies and methods used by the guerrilla units of Japan's feudal age. (Ninja)
So stop dressing up in black, doing wrist locks, and calling yourself a ninja. You're not.
