It is so bad in the Bujinkan that the Japanese themselves have both noticed and are making fun of the fact that only white westerners fall for the crap that the Bujinkan has to offer.
I released a video here awhile ago showcasing a Japanese show that took the time to visit Bujinkan dojo's in order to ask them questions and investigate what they consider a strange western phenomenon. All with a laugh track in the background, of course.

But it doesn't stop there. If you do a little digging across Japanese websites, you'll find many questioning and making fun of the fact that there are very few Japanese people involved in the Bujinkan, what's supposed to be a Japanese martial art. They wonder why someone would use this shitty fighting system if they already do throws and strikes in other more effective arts.
Good question.
Here's one such website: http://blog.livedoor.jp/zzcj/archives/51879038.html
That's because there is no ninjutsu in the Bujinkan. Hatsumi years ago told the world that he would not teach the unconventional strategies and methods used by the guerrilla units of Japan's feudal age. (Ninja)
So stop dressing up in black, doing wrist locks, and calling yourself a ninja. You're not.

Meet Mark Roemke, one of Hatsumi's aspies.
Today we're going to learn from one of Hatsumi's Shihan, Sensei Mark Roemke. He's going to teach you how to absorb a punch or a kick so that you don't get knocked out. Please watch it first before reading underneath the link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FTKBn7m8zQ
Here's my problem with his technique. One, people aim mostly for the head. The reason why is very subtle yet obvious when looked at in hindsight. When you're pissed at someone, with all the screaming, yelling, and shoving, what you want to hit and hurt the most is what's pissing you off. Words come out of the mouth and we identify one another as animals dominantly by the face... so, that's what you want to blast with your fist; their identity.
No one has ever been knocked out by being punched in the shoulder or arm. I've never got in a fight and screamed "I'M GOING TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR FRONT RIGHT PEC!"
Which, from an apologists point of view, I'm sure someone will try and say "That's fine, but fights don't include just head-hunters. People do body strikes all the time and it's important to harden the body."
Here's my response: You're right. People do hit more than the face, and training the body to be able to take the impact is important. It just requires something more than the shit you see in his video. No one is going to harden their body by having someone play patty-cake on them. There is a reason why people punch and kick trees and concrete in harder martial arts; it's to actually cause damage to the body so that it repairs itself and gets used to the wear and tear, making it stronger. The Bujinkan doesn't do that because they never haul off and take the time to beat the crap out of eachother. They don't even spar. So why would anyone listen to an organization about hardening when they don't even harden? They think every single attack is a step-forward punch in a straight line.
Does anyone seriously think that the best way to take a strike is to ride the energy back with a big large motion "so that you can settle with your center"? With the potential plus that you can raise your arm after already being hit? The speed of a real fight is so fucking fast that's it's not even plausible.
Here's a common sign that you see in martial artists that have never gotten in a fight or have no sparring in their training. They don't register when an opponent is close enough to hit them, or worse yet... don't even know how to change how they are positioned or what to do compared to when they aren't close enough to hit them.
If you're in a situation where someone is threatening you, the very last thing you want to do is be within punching distance, with your hands down, standing with your nuts and stomach front and center. Fuck this "absorption" crap. It's why the guy in the second street fight in my video got knocked out, and unforunately... that's the same exact distance and situation that this shit Shihan tried to demonstrate for his technique.
Keep those hands up, everyone.

The Japanese people laugh at the Bujinkan
I don't know if you know this or not, but however legendary the Bujinkan and Masaaki Hatsumi may be seen by the westerners, they are looked down by the Japanese themselves. There is a reason why every single video containing a Bujinkan seminar and gathering contains only white westerners, even in the homeland of Japan. The reason why is because the methods being practiced are already found in other arts that are more mainstream in Japan. Combine that with the fact that the Bujinkan has a light touch when it comes to the difficulty of training and quality of application, plus the lack of competition, and the Bujinkan really has nothing to offer than the fantasy of being a ninja.
Because when you look like this guy, it's honestly your only option.
(Ralph Severe, Bujinkan Master)
So how is it possible that a ninjutsu organization only really offers the same things that can be found in other mainstream arts? The answer is simple. The Bujinkan organization tries to tell you that there's such a thing like a "ninja throw" or a "ninja punch". Here's the problem though, a throw is a throw and a punch is a punch; there's nothing "ninja" about it. There's only a limited number of ways you can stab and punch someone, and there's no enticement to train in such an organization when you can compare the shit training to the legit judo and karate dojo's that can be found on every corner.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible to reinvent concepts in hand-to-hand that hasn't already been covered and been done extensively before in the entire history of the human race.
Ninjutsu is not a hand-to-hand fighting system. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is selling you something.
Watch my latest video to see how the Japanese react to the Bujinkan on their own soil.

Welcome to the jungle
I'm dedicating this blog to the exposure of the unfortunately not-so-well-known facets of Bujinkan bullshit. This organization is weak and is often manipulated by their leader, Masaaki Hatsumi, to take advantage of the western fascination of ninjutsu. Many years ago, he stood up and tried to claim monopolization on the entire ninjutsu world by saying that he is the only ninjutsu grandmaster and that anyone else is a fake and a liar, while at the same time filing his organization as a religious sect. It's not a martial art; it's a cult. The students within this organization literally see their great Soke as a God. The black belt system is supposed to be broken down simply in half. The first five levels of black belt is dedicated to the mastery of the body, while the second five levels is dedicated to the mastery of the mind with the belief that only your own personal religion can give you status regarding your own spiritualism. The Bujinkan extended their black belt system by an additional five levels, (a total of fifteen) dedicating it to the mastery of the spirit; allowing their organization to have a cult grip on their student base while at the same time draining them of more money since the cost to advance to these levels is insane.
These individuals are deluded and pretend to live in the 16th century. The training is pathetic and provides very little real skill and you wouldn't be able to defend yourself in real life with their training. There's a reason why there are so many "mma vs ninja" videos on youtube. All you need to do to beat a Bujinkan practitioner is to be a bit athletic and perform a double-leg takedown before some ground-and-pound. Do not waste your time, money, and dedication with the Bujinkan because you will only regret it in the end.
